At a meeting Monday night (Sept. 10, 2014), Frisco Independent School District and its trustees approved the construction and costs involved with building and opening its 9th High School. Timelines for other additional school buildings such as an additional elementary school above what was previously planned were accellerated as Frisco is expected to hit a population of over 50,000 by the end of the 2014-15 school.
The new elementary school, which will be Frisco ISD's 38th elementary school, will relieve crowding at Ashley Elementary which was closed to new students prior to the beginning of this current school year. This school will be named Norris Elementary.
The newly approved high school will be located next to the Frisco ISD administration building and will be named Lebanon High School.
A new middle school named Pearson Middle School will open next school year and relieve over-crowding at Pioneer Heritage Middle School. Additionally, another new middle school will open in Southeast Frisco in 2016 named Lawler Middle School to accomodate the growth in that part of town.
